Thoughts on author: I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Excellent writing. There were things
that are similar to Romeo and Juliet, but I really liked her take on the story.
Fresh eyes, fresh view, and excellent writing. I feel like if anything the author added more dynamic to the characters. I am looking forward to reading other
books by this author!!

If you love Romeo and Juliet with a twist than this is the book for you.
Roman the poor boy determined to success despite everything. Willing to do whatever it takes to make it. Jewel the orphan who is thrown into a new situation trying to find out where she belongs. Until faith has other plans for both of them.
Roman and Jewel are the typical Romeo and Juliet story we all know and love. Roman and Jewel are what I would imagined a modern day take on Shakespeare's work. Even though this was a modern take on the book I felt in no way did it take away from the original. If anything the author added more dynamic to the characters. There was angst, amazing chemistry, and heartbreaking love story.
